Why the Bulls should draft Obi Toppin

The Bulls have their best draft position since they drafted Derrick Rose back in 2008. With a new front office and mindset, I think this is the most crucial draft have had in this century. They are building a young, talented core with Colby white, Lauri Markkenan, and Wendell Carter. Zach Lavine is great piece to either trade or lead this young core forth next few years. But we are still missing a piece or two.

I think Obi Toppin is that piece. He is an 6’9″ athletic wing who can score. The last few first round picks for the Bulls have come off the bench, but I see Toppin as a day one starter and could develop into a superstar.

Toppin has serious talent and is the favorite to win the Rookie of the year considering how NBA-ready he is. He was a Zero-star recruit that turned into a projected top 5 pick. You don’t do that without working your ass off and that’s the kind of work ethic I want on the Bulls. He has potential to be a top 5 two way player that the Bulls could build around for years.

The Bulls have been making all the right moves in a city where organizations have been tripping up lately. (White Sox-La Russa, Cubs- Losing Theo, Blackhawks-Everything, Bears- take your pick) But with the hiring of Artūras Karnišovasm, GM Marc Eversley, and head coach Billy Donovan, the future looks bright. This has probably been the most excited I have been for a Bulls season since D-Rose left. Hopefully the can keep the moment going by picking Toppin and continuing the progression of the team.
